Madi Ballenger's family is forced to flee their hometown in Florida due to her boyfriend's crazy father leading them to a small town in Kansas. As they live with relative's Madi is somewhat glad she had to leave Florida, because of all the bullies out there who hated her because she was bisexual. She is also extremely depressed she had to leave Joshua (her ex), for Joshua was the only one who knew she had scars all over her body, besides her big brother Aaron. Madi was playing guitar for a crowd singing If I Die Young, for it expressed her feelings. As she was leaving she bumped into a tall, slender figure and by that her life changed forever.
