ChildofHephaestus
Or, what could have happened after Dumbledore died.
The Order of the Phoenix declares an open war against Voldemort and his followers, placing Harry as their general. The country is in shambles. Muggles and wizards alike are being killed daily. Then, one of Harry's commanders has enough. She leaves, and starts a hospital for Order members and Death Eaters alike. Accompanied by Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom, Casey Black, daughter of Regulus Black, starts to show the world that, maybe, the answer doesn't lay in fighting. After all, the one thing both sides have in common is the fact that they are losing friends and families to the whims of fools. She also begins to show how the wisdom of teenagers is wisdom, nonetheless.
Excerpt:
"You're kids." It wasn't a question. Casey answered it anyway. "Yes. We are. Kids forced to fight the grownup's war. Forced to die for a cause that we aren't sure is worthy. All because adults don't listen." She kept talking, even when the man tried to interrupt. "But our age does not make us inferior. We are not naive. We lost that luxury in our fourth year, when, for most of us, we saw our first dead body. It was not the last." Here she laughed, her voice turned bitter. "No. We are not naive. But we also do not have the arrogance of adulthood. The arrogance that causes you to think that you are better, wiser, all because you are older. Age does not make you wise." She stopped and caught her breath. She then bent down to look the Death Eater in the eye were he was tied up on the floor. "So tell me, Mr. Malfoy. What makes you better?"
