Rei struggles to accept that he is gay. He wishes he felt more than just friendship to girls. His parents are homophobic, so he grew up believing that being gay is wrong. What makes it worse is he is in love with his hyper best friend. He is struggling to believe that what he is feeling does not meet his beautiful expectations, and that he may have to live the rest of his life feeling this way. Nagisa has begun to realize he is gay, and has started to accept it... However, he is keeping these emotions trapped inside, not telling anyone. He knows his family won't accept him for liking guys. He really does love Rei, but he doesn't know how to cope with these emotions by himself. Everyday he puts on a smile and pretends that nothing is going on, but he comes closer and closer to reaching is breaking point.
