I look into the blue eyes of my best friend and it feels like staring down a stranger. They are familiar and foreign all in the same moment, glossy and pleading. The dimly lit street allows only enough light to cast glimmers on our faces and subtle shadows on the ground. It's raining but I've hardly noticed; all I see is him. "Megan please don't go," he says desperately. "I-I'm sorry." A tear falls steadily down my cheek. I don't want to go but I have to be strong for myself. I run forward and wrap my arms around him in a hug. "I love you Niall," I say near his ear, "I just don't like the person you've become." I hold back a sob, "When my best friend comes back tell him to find me." I don't say another word I just go, leaving him all alone in the dark street...

It's summer-time and Zoei Randall and her step-mother are coming to stay in Oklahoma for a month with Zoei's step-aunt. When Zoei finally gets to a small town called Drumright, she completely LOATHES the town. It was exceedingly small and had absolutely NOTHING to do. There were two parks and one had a skateboard ramp, so at least she could go and skate board, but it was still boring. One day, when she was skateboarding, her huskie, Kuna, starts flipping out. Three boys are trotting past the park on horses. Kuna breaks her leash and darts after the boys and their horses. Zoei, fearing for Kuna, runs after her dog. When she gets to the end of the street, the boy on the grey horse is petting Kuna and feeding her what looks suspicously like beef jerky. The boy turns and looks at Zoei, who is calling Kuna's name. Zoei immediately freezes. The boy has golden brown hair and grey blue eyes. And, to Zoei, he is the most beautiful boy that she has ever seen. They start hanging out and eventually head over to the Cushing Theatre to see a movie. But, after the movie, when Tyler was walking Zoei to his car, a girl showed up. She walked up to Tyler, whispered in his ear, then left. He looked surprised. Turning and glaring at Zoei, he said: "Get your own ride home." He got in his truck and drove away, leaving Zoei alone. What was wrong with Tyler? Will Zoei find his love, or be left cold?
