"It is not light that we need, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake. - Frederick Douglass" To me he was that storm but do birds really sing after a storm?

What happened to me is something I could never have dreamed up in my wildest imagination. I mean, no one really wakes up in the morning and expects to find a person you connect with so much, and feel a shared magnetism for that it may have you re-evaluating whether you believe in love at first sight. It's even more bizarre that this person is one of the most recognisable people on the planet. One should think of me as so lucky. All I ask is Pretty Please, Don't Pinch Me.. because this is one dream I don't want to wake up from. Ava Sinclair considered herself to be quite a regular twenty year old. That is right up until she runs into one of the most publicly lusted after men. Juggling work, friends and family is hard enough, so when she is thrust into the public eye in such an impromptu manner, she must learn to deal with all the add ons. Yet something much larger and something she doesn't quite understand emerges and she begins to lose all sense of reality. Harry and Kate are completely different people. Harry is 29, a professor at the University of Chicago, a bit closed off, and currently recovering from the death of his wife that took place the past autumn. Kate is 21, a transfer student, and dealing with life after being convicted of attempting to murder her previous boyfriend. The two meet under odd circumstances and get off on the wrong foot upon their meeting. It doesn't take them long to look past that though and begin an unofficial physical relationship that inevitably does not remain under those terms. These two worlds come together unexpectedly and clash in the beginning. They eventually learn to deal with each other's rocky past though and find a way to be accepting of the person they both have become since those incidents. Of course it's not quite that easy, though. This is a story of love, hate, and uncertainty all wrapped into one. Harry and Kate learn the hard way that you can run from your past, but you will never truly escape the darkness that follows you.

"Isn't it funny how it's the boy from the dark that helped me see the light?" As celebration of the one year anniversary since the finish of my most popular story, Broken, I've decided to revisit the story in an entirely new way. The new special edition includes extended sections, updated writing, rethought scenes, and 10 added chapters. Dedicated to the lovely readers that stuck by my side through my inconsistent posting, writers block, and supported my writing from the very start. This is all for you. *content warning: fire, bullying, violence/blood, depression, domestic abuse, sexual assault, toxic relationship centric, mention of alcoholism, emotional abuse, death, themes that could be read as self harm, suicidal ideation, bipolar disorder* Please let me know if I missed anything

When the quiet girl in Clayton Hugh's chemistry class comes knocking on his door at five in the morning barely covered up in her little pajamas, inattentive, and drooling like crazy, he has no choice but to take her inside. But once Lucy Walker wakes up inside a room she has never seen before wearing an over-sized t-shirt and gym shorts, you can imagine the pure panic setting in her. The subtle addition of Clayton entering the room shirtless doesn't help much either. After three years of fawning over him, leave it up to her sleepwalking to finally get Clayton Hugh to notice her.
