A cat stood, outlined by the light of the fire, the flames reached out to devour anything in its path. The tom panted and breathed in the chalky air. His fur matted with marks of scorch and cinder. His eyes lit up as the flames grew. A loud screech struck the air, he shivered, hoping the creature wasn't to near. He flatted his ears against his head to block out the caterwaul cries. The orange flames grew and the cries continued to strike his ears. He looked around, knowing he had to get out. He forced himself forward and limped across the forest floor.
