"Your voice suits you," Lauren murmured, hardly even realizing she was speaking her thoughts aloud. "W-What?" Dinah blinked, seeming confused. "Your voice," Lauren replied, her voice a little stronger now. "It's almost as beautiful as you are." (OR: In which getting fired leads a moody Lauren to a bar, where a woman with the most incredible voice she's ever heard is sitting at the piano.)

Twenty years after a pandemic swept the world, infected humans roam the earth, while survivors kill each other for resources. Lauren, having lived in a militarized safe zone for most of her life, is given the task to safely transport what could be humanity's last hope for a cure.

"I don't know how to say no to you," Dinah said softly, opening her eyes. "Come on, baby," Lauren murmured, her voice even and sweet, not betraying the reckless pulse that Dinah could feel pounding all over her body. "Let me change your ticket home." (OR: AU Dinah and Lauren meet in London and fall into each other faster than either of them was expecting.)

"You've got me," Lauren whispered, the words sounding almost like a question. Dinah nodded. "For as long as you want me, for as long as I deserve you. And...even after that." (A series of loosely connected scenes from Lauren's pregnancy, and her married life with Dinah.)

In the end, Dinah knew she'd rather hold Lauren like this for as long as she could than risk it all on something so breakable. Lauren was worth too much to be careless with. As Lauren murmured something unintelligible against her neck, Dinah realized that recklessness was for people with nothing to lose. And Lauren was the opposite of nothing.
