There is a boy named Vito who lives in an apartment lost in the streets of Brooklyn. It is 1949, just after the war has ended. Vito is suffering grief, his father died in the war. His Father, though he might deny it, held his life together, when Vito's role model died he pushed everyone and anything away except for Adrian, she is the only friend that stayed even after he treated her like trash. Adrian is helping he and his mother through grief and teaching Vito how to live life again. Vito is an amazing cellist and that, kept him alive for a while. He plays every day and night trying to perfect his skills and get into the Grand Orchestra, which is his life's goal. As if Vito hasn't experienced enough he soon will understand what the difference between bad and worse is.
