[Soon by WATTPAD BOOKS] In the prestigious race of stars, Sozo must hide the truth of who she is or pay with her life, but her blossoming relationship with the most talented competitor threatens everything she's worked for. ***** Every ten years, the lucky chosen bond with stars and race to win a wish. Any wish. Sozo is one of the lucky chosen, but she has a secret: as an Omen -- cursed beings that can transform into monsters -- she's forbidden from competing. Discovery would mean her death. Can she hope to keep her identity a secret, let alone win the race, especially as the talented and sunny Naqi enters the picture? When Sozo is given an ultimatum, she has to choose: betray her Omen people, or betray the people who are slowly, surely, becoming like a family to her. --- WATTYS AWARD 2020 "Bar none, this was [Senior Editorial Specialist] Amanda's absolute favourite read from the Wattys this year. It makes you cry, just from pure, uncontainable joy, and the ending kept us reading until nearly 6am. Everything about this story is beautiful. We were astounded that anyone could create something so magnificent and moving and magical. This level of storytelling mastery will never not blow us away." [Word Count: 70,500]

(This is v2 version, which explains the odd read to vote ratio, btw) :-) Anyway! If you're new, just a little info: ★ MY READERS LOVE ★ - Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Miraculous Ladybug, KOTLC, Teen Wolf, and Warrior Cats. If you love those stories, you'll love "The Otherworlders" too! ****** THE STORY: Forced to call a truce to the Shadow Wars and set their prejudice aside, Vampyrs, Enchanteds, and Shapeshifters create the Otherworlder Integrated Academy. Highest Ranking: #1 in Humor [FEATURED, SEPT-OCT] An idealistic poet refuses to budge from the last parcel of land a developer needs to acquire in order to build a shopping mall. (Literary satire with pop culture references and environmental themes.) synopsis: The Myth of Wile E. is a riff on the modern obsession with fame and acclaim, as well as a mediation on the artist's place in the modern world, as seen through the eyes of a naive poet who is made simultaneously pathetic and heroic by the pursuit of a singular goal. In this novel, we meet an assortment of eccentric monomaniacs, from mushroom hunters in search of a legendary truffle, to birders pursuing a possibly-extinct bird, to competitive Duck Stamp artists, to "the World's Foremost Living Statue"...and even a very stubborn spider. Meanwhile, our narrator--a terrible, yet persistent, poet--battles a ruthless land developer who's determined to acquire the poet's humble property, in an escalating battle of wills that spirals out of control when the media gets involved. With these quirky events as a backdrop, we gradually learn of the misfortunes that befell each member of the poet's family in their various misguided quests for glory. We also learn why money makes the world go flat, why talent is a white elephant, and what it means for parents to love their children "to pieces." Some of my influences are Richard Brautigan (especially), Christopher Moore, Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, and George Saunders, so if you like any of them, I hope you'll enjoy this, too.

This is where the cycle renews. "At the end of time," my lover tells me, "the old gods that my Father put to sleep will awaken and destroy all of Creation. And He will let them. Hands will unravel mountains, claws will slice open oceans, and their wings will block out the sun. Outside, the gormless beasts that have slumbered within the folds of space will raze the cosmos. They will shatter planets, devour moons, and snuff out the stars. They will consume even the darkness, for their masters have raised the clarion call of the apocalypse, and they have been asleep for too long."

Elusive, ethereal, fragile and hard to catch: Fleeting Thoughts, the butterflies of the mind. This book is but a bag for thoughts, rants, and shorts, which I write for whatever reason. I know that there's no huge audience for stuff like that, but some things just need writing... Some of these stories are competition entries. Contents: 1. Single Soldier Armor: A SciFi short story. (A finalist in @ScienceFiction's #warriorpunk competition in November 2016.) 2. Bookclubbing: Some totally subjective and personal thoughts on how to get the best out of a book club. 3. Jane and Jerome: That's literally a dark one. It won first place in @mystery 's writing prompt 5, "It's All About Descriptions". 4. Call Center: My submission to the competition "Love Conversation Contest" over at the @Romance profile. It's a love story consisting completely of dialogue. 5. The Unburdening of Le Pont Des Arts: Just something that was begging to be written. 6. Where Wearwolves Walk With Vile Veerwolves: Now, that one is difficult to summarize. But it is basically my shoutout to use the #grownupreads tag 7. Sex on the Beach: My contribution to the #bodyonthebeach (Washed Away) competition 8. Furia & Ferdinand: My contribution to the Forbidden Love prompt. 9. You're the Last One: My submission to the "Kiss Me at the End of the World" contest.
