Alex is a troublemaker, yet he doesn't want to be. It's just that when people get too close, or too personal for his comfort, he snaps. Events of his past have left him afraid of almost any physical contact, and other people in general. He's trying to mend his broken life, and is offered a fresh start after being expelled from his last school. Jack, on the other hand, is depressed. He feels worthless, like a waste of life and space, and has just about the lowest self-esteem possible. He's searching for the affection and comfort he so desperately needs. The meet at a bus stop one day, but are torn apart when Alex has to suddenly run off, without even giving the boys a chance to exchange names. Half a year later, the pair is reunited, when Jack is assigned to be Alex's tour guide on his first day at Dulaney High. Their feelings for one another quickly grow, though they're confused about where, exactly, the relationship is headed. Can the two boys help each other? Are they enough?

I can and I will help him, without help he will never get out of here.. *** After Alex Gaskarth was hospitalized for his third suicide attempt this year his parents decided that it would be best for him to spend some time in the Teen Psychiatric ward of Valley Springs Hospital. There he has to share a room with Jack Barakat, who was possibly the worst person to room with due to his attitude, but when Alex discovers more about Jack and why he was there he begins to feel different towards the boy he was told to stay away from. Will Jack accept Alex's help and encouragement? Or will he shut himself away from Alex and refuse anything to do with him? Is what Alex feels towards Jack more than just the need to help him? Jack's bandmates Rian, Zack and Alex are told that Jack has stage four cancer and the doctors are surprised it has gone unnoticed for so long. The four boys decide to spend Jack's final days on the road, travelling to all the places that holds memories of their friendship. Alex has been in love with the sick boy for as long as he can remember. After some convincing, Alex decides it's best to tell Jack how he feels before its too late but does someone else beat him to the chase? But sadly, one day their fun will have to come to an end...
