Polaris is an experiment that went wrong, now he is a very lethal weapon that can destroy mankind, and now the government is in the search to kill him. Can he find the help he needs to be a regular teenage boy with the help of a social outcast? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Polaris is a sixteen-year-old adopted teenager, but his parents aren't the sweet and loving kind of parents that would bake cookies and play a game of catch. His parents are scientists who love to experiment with their son. Due to the hundreds of experiments, Polaris now has the power that can freeze anything with a touch of his finger. Not only does he have to deal with this, but he also needs to control his temper, or else he can put the whole country into an icicle. Adena has been alone for as long as she can remember due to her lack of social skills. While her classmates hang out at parties, she is working at her father's convenience store, stacking shelves with canned food. On a walk home from a day at school, she collides with a mysterious boy with striking blue eyes and a pale face.

Joleen hopes to forget everything on the fringes of space. Even if she decided to turn back home, everyone who knows her back on Earth will be dead, and that's probably for the best. There are only three others on the all-but abandoned space station, but they don't ask too many questions, so Jo settles down for a long, quiet life drifting in the stars. Until an unadvised manned mission brings back an alien in the form of an obsessive, instinct-driven demon. None of them are trained for this. Note from the Author: For those who don't know, I am not a sensitive noob when it comes to criticism. How to handle criticism and, more importantly, how to use it is something they teach you in college as well as something you figure out when you're studying writing. So, if you lot have anything to point out, such as plot holes or 'this loser's character makes no sense, destroy him,' please let me know. I appreciate your feedback. For reals. Or is it fo shizzle?

"Find the egg of the most royal hue, then wings of light shall envelop you. Gather with care the egg of gold, and wings of metal will soon unfold. Among three sisters who squawk and squabble, the largest egg is set to wobble. Within the plains with storms mighty, an egg of night could stop the fighting. Covered in leaves on the forest below, wings of forest are waiting to go. With wings of metal they shall end the fight and with wings of light, they will do what's right. Wings of forest shall help set the norm. Once tempers calmed by wings of storm, peace shall arrive on feathered wings, and with it a new queen of wind. But two will die and one must learn, if she acknowledges a being higher, she'll have the power of wings of fire. Four Dragonets called on the brightest night to end the fight. Four Dragonets to do what's right." ~~~ Halcyon has known nothing but the darkness of the cave that she was hatched in, the four other Dragonets that were her nest-mates, and the strict teachings of their overbearing guardians. She has no idea that the fate of the world outside is in the talons of herself and her nest-mates Static, Sicoria, Goshawk, and Maple... or rather- she does- but she just doesn't care.

Born into a superstitious, polytheistic herd that roams the great plains of western North America, Salem doesn't think that she is anything but an ordinary mare; but while most members of her herd have coats of brown shades, grey, white, or a mix of those colors, she is the only one with a coat blacker than a starless midnight sky. This makes her a target for not only her peers, but also the foals and the adults in her herd alike and her odd, light blue eyes doesn't make things any easier. Viewed as a bad omen since her birth and named after the deity of death as a result, she is eventually chased out of the herd by the tyrannical lead stallion after suffering months of mistreatment from previous lead stallions when members of the once large, prosperous herd start dying from starvation. Now truly labeled as a curse and forced to live a solitary life, she struggles to get by. Her luck turns around when she meets three others; a temperamental, hot-headed work horse named Valkyrie, a food-loving rouge stallion named Sandstorm, and an under-sized outcast named Blight. As Salem, Valkyrie, Sandstorm, and Blight travel together, they can't help but notice how quickly the world around them is starting to detereorate. Rainfall slowly starts to become less and less frequent and as a result, plants begin to turn brown and wither while animals and people are starting to die of starvation. Things start to take a strange turn when an emaciated woman with tanned leathery skin, thin black hair, and strange golden eyes appears before the four horses one day; claiming to be Famine and that the four horses were each destined to play a role in the end of Humanity and the restoration of the entire planet. ~~~ Disclaimer: I do not own any of the images used; they are merely for base character references. I do however, own the characters and story.

Will Kara- now a Dragonet without a mind voice- be able to make it in this new world? Inspired by Upon Wings of Change by Crystal Scherer.
