It was Friday March 16, 1781, when they came to recruit my slave father, Abraham, to fight in the American Revolutionary War. He wasn’t my actual father, he was a family slave, but I loved him like he was. Both of my parents died from a disease when I was of a young age, so I don’t remember them. He was like family to us, so they said he was the only one who could take care of my younger siblings and I. On that fateful day, the British troops came to City Point and offered all of the slaves freedom if they fought for England.

This is a short story written for school (I only had 1000 words). The plot is a bit underdeveloped because of the limit. It's about an Irish girl and her family during the American Revolution (specifically the Stamp Act). Enjoy!

It's 1516 and the Italian Renaissance is booming. Our story starts with two very young different people. Francesca Visconti is a beautiful girl who's able to charm those with her quick wit and unseen intelligence hidden between the layers of thick unruly red hair. Giovanni D'Medici is one hell of a rake who beds any common whore and even his maids. He doesn't believe in love or such and thinks his future bride to be is an ugly hag just as rumours say. In the easiest terms to explain, he's a plain bastard. But everything changes when the two are brought together through the classic means of an arranged marriage. Though with a rake like Giovanni, will Francesca ever feel happiness? Even when he's touching another woman a few rooms next door?

It’s 1780. The Americans are losing their desperate fight for independence from the most powerful nation on Earth. Britain’s navy is crushing outposts up and down the eastern seaboard and the Americans’ pitiful navy consists mostly of small-vessel privateers on missions of profit. “Captain Jack” Celia Bancroft is one of those privateers, whose list of debts of honor is a nautical mile long. Sailing for the Americans is the current project on her to-do list, and once she has finished all her tasks, she will then be free to sail on a tide of whimsy. Commander Elliott Raxham, cashiered from His Majesty’s Royal Navy, is a newly made British earl who schemes for his own independence — from the title he never expected to inherit and the country that has betrayed him time and again. They meet in a Caribbean tavern where he steals a kiss that starts a brawl she finishes. In retaliation, he steals her ship’s figurehead and, if that isn’t a grave enough insult, proceeds to chase her across the Atlantic to collect on the promise in her kiss. With that, the romance is on, but the adventure is only beginning as Elliott and Celia face obstacle after obstacle in their own fight for independence — a new life together on the American frontier.
