Living in the village isn't easy, especially when the taxes are raised and getting by is made increasingly difficult. So Marinette has to do something about it. But how could she as an average peasant girl? Her plan is to overthrow the kingdom. Feeing hopeless, Marinette nearly tosses aside this idea. On a cold and dreary night, when a fairy godmother grants her biggest wish, she has the ability to transform into Ladybug, a spotted hero who will demand change for the village. But she'll find that it's easier said than done when she unexpectedly meets Prince Adrien. Will Marinette ever have a happy ending without jeopardizing the lives of the ones she loves?

The following fanfic was written before the origin episodes Marinette struggles with living a double life. She feels anger towards Ladybug and herself, luckily, she manages to find light in someone who she hardly expected.

As Chat Noir, Adrien would love to find out who his Lady is so they could be happy both in and out of cover. But their kwami only allow them to use their markers after an Akuma attack and never throughout the day. Marinette felt pure shock that she let herself be caught up so much in her thoughts that she missed an Akuma attack. "You need to go back up to your room. I don't want you to get hurt."
