That's exactly what the Joker was planning to do, maybe he would even get to kill the Bat and his little bird if they'd come to the boys' rescue. But what happens when the Young Justice is assigned to protect Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake and Damian Wayne, four of the richest children of Gotham? Jason hasn't spoken to his family in months, it takes a near death situation for him to realise that he should reconnect with them, especially his older brother. ~ This short story was originally posted on Tumblr on @couldbeyouraphrodite's account. "I needed to protect you," he muttered, rocking slowly back and forth. 'A finger trailed down his cheek, nails scratching lightly across his skin.' "Don't let them touch you, Jason." He shivered, shying away from the whispers of skin still ruining him. "Don't let them-" Breathing hurt. His cuffed fingers clenched around the pipe, coldness seeping into his skin. His head was ringing. Something touched his leg again. He jerked so hard his whole body slammed into the wall. 'Don't touch me.' Or: An infiltration mission goes south and Dick is confronted with memories long-buried; of fleeting touches and warm skin, cold rain and broken friendships.

"Jesus Christ..." he muttered, swallowing hard. He reached out tentatively, his gloved fingers brushing against the infant's cheek. It was ice-cold. The baby's chest rose and fell faintly, each breath a Herculean effort. Beneath the child, the tarp was damp-not with water, but something metallic-smelling and sticky. Blood? Ramirez's stomach twisted. "Dispatch," he whispered hoarsely into his radio, forcing his voice steady. "Officer Ramirez, 9th and Mercer. I need an ambulance. I found an infant. Abandoned. Possible injury." . . "They found a baby in Gotham," Bruce finally said. "Abandoned in an alley. They ran a DNA test... and it matched you." Dick froze, the world around him suddenly quiet, as if the city itself held its breath. "What?" he said sharply, disbelief washing over him. "That's impossible."
