His eyes are brown, but they aren't brown. They're amber and onyx and the gold people desperately try to pull from the ground. They hold the magnitude of a black hole and the darkness of the ocean that the light doesn't hit. His eyes are red, but he doesn't want her to see them. They represent power, power he took by killing his leader. They represent the blood he shed by slashing through skin and bone that night, the thoughts and memories of pain he went through. But, they also represent passion, love, and desire and maybe, just maybe, he wants her to see that. His eyes are blue, but they aren't the blue he wants her to see. They aren't the color of the ocean or the sky or the feathers of a free blue bird. They're the color of a pen that's been broken while she's studying, the dark navy ink smudging her hands and getting under her manicured nails but she doesn't care about the mess that seemed to represent her scattered emotions.
