However, their plan backfires when Mal is the first person Carlos sees after he eats one of the cookies. Carlos becomes hopelessly in love with Mal, much to the latter's chagrin. However, a spark inside Mal lights up when Carlos confessed his "undying love" for her. The daughter of Maleficent begins to wonder what that spark means.
