I may look like a good girl on the outside, but on the inside I'm a balled up mess of emotions, ready to explode at anytime, at any place. It may not look like my life is a mess but it is. I've had my share of boyfriends, but as soon as they find out....they're gone. I need that 'one' that I can tell everything to, that can help me forget, maybe just once... then came the Miller boys....

In life there are things that are said, and then there are those that remain unsaid. For Keely Staub, her life mostly remained in the latter category. She kept the one true love, music, hidden from even her best friends. But when one song changed the world she lived in, shaking it to it's very core, everything she knows is about to change. Her future and a past even hidden from her collide as she wades through a world she'd never dared to dream of, allowing her half heart to maybe find an equally broken one in the unlikely source of Seth Ryan.

She thought the world was against her and being loved just wasn't for her, until she met four boys determined to change that. (the writing in this is certainly not my best, just a heads up) warning: this book deals with triggering topics such as eating disorders, self-harm, and suicide. When seventeen-year-old Lydia Good ends up getting drunk at a party and performs the biggest prank of her lifetime, her parents aren't too happy. With the Mayor threatening to press charges and refusing to take her fathers offer, her parents decide the best thing for Lydia to do is give back to the town and show everyone that she’s as good as her last name implies. Volunteering to answer calls for the Suicide Hotline is depressing in itself. If she’s not getting calls about people threatening to jump off buildings, or wanting to talk about their multiple problems, then it’s immature boys prank calling for kicks and giggles. When one night a call comes in from a guy saying he’s thinking about ending his life, Lydia doesn't know if it’s a joke or not. But when the boy calls back every single night at the same time, Lydia spends hours upon hours trying to decipher the guy behind the call. Because what’s worse than falling for a guy you don’t even know? Falling for a guy too lost to even love you back.

I was the 6th-grade "slut." And I kept a diary. So I decided to create The UnSlut Project in the hopes that my own diary entries could provide some perspective to girls who currently feel trapped and ashamed. I am publishing these entries one at a time, without changing a single word except for the names of the people involved. My limited commentary, which is confined to brackets in each entry, is meant to provide the relief of my current perspective, fifteen years later. The UnSlut Project: Working to undo the dangerous slut shaming in our schools, communities, media, and culture by sharing knowledge and experiences.
