Ari Callahan has no idea how to talk to boys -- or how to talk to anyone for that matter. Enter Zac, the cute new guy in town who won't stop texting her. But is his interest real, or does he have a hidden agenda? ***** Found as a young child washed up on the beach, 17-year-old Ari Callahan has never uttered a word out loud to anyone -- not even her adoptive family. Psychologists have diagnosed her with a condition called selective mutism, but Ari can't help identifying with her namesake character, Ariel, the little mermaid in the fairytale whose voice was stolen by a sea witch. Mermaid-obsession aside, Ari's silence makes socializing tough. She's never had a boyfriend or been asked out on a date. Not until Zac, the confident new arrival in town, asks for her number. But Zac has his own reasons for texting with Ari. He's part of a movement to sabotage the artificial music app called SirenSong, threatening to render human singing obsolete. Zac's collaborators have scoured the globe in search of a singing voice perfect enough to break the SirenSong spell, and their search has led them straight to Ari's beachside town. Will her relationship with Zac help Ari find her voice and unlock the secrets of her origins? Or will he use her and leave her high and dry? Title: Ari and Zac (formerly The Mermaid Hypothesis) Content Warning: This story contains references to selective mutism, suicidal thoughts, and early childhood trauma.

DO NOT READ UNLESS you have read Shadow's Edge. Description contains spoilers. Seriously... Go back and read Shadow's Edge first... I mean it. Mara and her friends have returned for another year at Shadow's Edge, only some things have changed. Mara is now the witch representative on the High Council, and she has learned that her friend Marx is actually her mate. But after the betrayal from Zander, Mara still has issues letting Marx in. Mara has spent the past summer with Trixle and her family in the Fae Kingdom, and in that time she has learned more about the Magical Realm than she ever thought possible, and her powers have grown significantly. Things for Mara Crowland are definitely starting to look up. That is until they start to slide back down. The High Council has learned of a threat to the organization as well as the rest of their world. Will Mara be able to help the Council in ridding their world of the threat, or will the Council fall and ultimately bring on the destruction of the Magical Realm? I do not own the image for the cover!

This is the third story in the series! And this description could contain some spoilers. I suggest you go back and read Shadow's Edge and Between Shadows if you have not already. Everything seems to have settled down in the Magical Realm following Zander's death. Trixle has transitioned into her role on the High Council, and now the Realm has something new in mind for Mara. The witches are finally coming together and most are looking to the representative of their people, but there are a select few who have different plans. By now, Mara and her friends have learned to be prepared. Something else could always be waiting for them around the corner. Marx and Trixle both know the story, it's been passed down for generations. The bedtime story to scare the kids. The story to keep them in line, to strike fear in them if they ever deviate from their ideals. It's about the Realm's own personal boogie man. But what happens when those stories have some truth to them? What if the boogie man is real? Find out in Beyond the Shadows

"What the hell?" I took a step closer to the mirror, staring at my reflection in disbelief. The person looking back was still me, but at the same time it wasn't. I had the same thick, dark, curly hair. The same hazel eyes. The same olive skin with a light dusting of freckles (ugh) scattered across the bridge of my nose. But my curls were now streaked with highlights. And not the subtle, golden-brown ones that sometimes appeared during the summer. No, these were an aggressive, dazzling blond that went from the roots of my hair all the way to the tips. It looked like I had spent a full day getting my hair done in some upscale salon. Never mind that I had never set foot in such a place since the day I was born. My eyes appeared somehow wider and more luminous. The colour brighter, my eyelashes darker up against them. And, when I looked closely, my pupils seemed to be slitted almost like a cat. I looked down at my body. My skinny arms-which had always refused to gain any definition no matter how hard I exercised-were lined with flat, wiry muscles. My bony shoulders were now curved and smooth. My scrawny legs were toned like a dancer. I reached down and lifted my shirt, revealing two subtle lines running vertically down my perfectly flat stomach, hinting at the rock-hard abs underneath. My whole body was rippling with strength. Like liquid steel.
