He takes his other hand putting my hair behind my ear. Why is he doing this? He slowly brings his lips to my ear. I can feel his lips barely touching the top of my ear making me suck in a sharp breath. "I like knowing you're scared of me" He whispers. His breath hits my ear and fans out to my neck. I shiver at his words. He stays that way for a moment before sliding his hand down my forearm and slowly pulling his head away. Our bodies still touching, he looks down at me with a smirk on his lips before he lets me go and walks away without another word. ~~~~ He is not the same person anymore. He has secrets. With him in her life, it is just a bittersweet tragedy.

** WATTYS 2018 WINNER ** Big Tech meets Die Hard in this techno-thriller Kirkus Reviews calls "a clever, spirited tale with a brainy, nimble heroine at the helm." From IndieReader's 5-star (highest rating) review: "Bond weaves an entertaining tale filled with deceit, robots, Russians, and tech entrepreneurs that all combine to give the reader a reason to flip pages furiously to find out what might happen next." Deb Bollinger has no time for corporate training. Her company's top engineer at just twenty-seven, Deb has blocked off her day for the one project she truly cares about: the launch of Carebnb, an app that finds spare beds for the homeless. When she's told all employees must drop everything for some busywork exercise called Blackquest 40, it's an easy no. Trouble is, her bosses aren't really asking. Blackquest 40 is the mother of all corporate trainings. A near-impossible project to be completed in forty straight hours. No phones. No internet. Sleeping on cots. Nobody in, nobody out. Deb finds the whole setup creepy and authoritarian. When a Carebnb issue necessitates her leaving the office, she heads for the door. What's the worst that could happen? Armed commandos, HVAC-duct chases, a catastrophic master plan that gets darker by the hour - Blackquest 40 is a fresh take on the Die Hard formula, layering smart-drones and a modern heroine onto the classic action tale. Cover design and illustration by Ethan Scott.

In real life, the aliens show up, the people die. That was a fact. We knew this was the event that would end us, our extinction was upon us. What I hadn't expected, was to survive it....

I don't remember much after I blacked out, my head was throbbing. I tried to move my hands to wipe what I think is blood dripping down my forehead, but my hands are tied behind the chair. It was dark, pitch black. "Somebody help!" I shout. I heard movement from the corner of the room. "Shh, don't scream," someone whispers. I shot my head in the direction the voice came from. I can hear footsteps coming towards me. I can't make out who it is in the darkness. All of a sudden, I feel my hands being placed on mine. My heart started beating faster than ever. The grip on my arms tightened, as I let out a little scream. Inches away from my face, I feel their hot breath against my skin "You're finally all mine," the voice says. WARNING: 'There will be time to murder and create, And time for all the works and days of hands That lift and drop a question on your plate; Time for you and time for me, And time yet for a hundred indecisions, And for a hundred visions and revisions, Before the taking of a toast and tea.'

A young woman who was always the life of the party, quick to tell a joke, always smiling and happy, tragically dies at age 23. What her mother found after her death reflected a much different young woman, her poetry. Her words showed a young woman crying out to feel loved, wanted, beautiful and worthy. Struggling to accept herself as the wonderful, happy, beautiful young woman everyone else saw her as. Her words reflect the pain and torment she allowed another to cause her. It is her mother's most heart felt desire to reach even one young person struggling to accept themselves. To encourage them to open up and talk to someone, to know they are never alone, to know their feelings are validated. She also hopes to reach a mother that perhaps feels her daughter is perfect and completely in charge of her life, as mothers often do. After reading her poetry, hopefully it will facilitate conversation, confirm unconditional love and help to end words that a mother never hears. I am her mother and these are her words.
