Imagine the "Light" and "Dark" sides of "The Force" were partially-sentient extra-dimensional life-forces engaged in a Secret War in our world -- A war whose warriors consist of people recruited through infection by either the Sacred Fire or the Corruption. These Awakened have been given tremendous supernatural powers but at an equally tremendous cost. Welcome to the Secret War. Until The Corruption infected her neighbor, Hikari Miyabe's greatest concern was preparing for her high school entrance examination. But then her neighbor killed her family and infected her. When one of the Awakened arrives and cleanses her with the Sacred Fire, Hikari finds herself caught in a secret war between supernatural forces that consumes the lives of everyone it touches. This is a 4-part novella covering the back story of Hikari Miyabe, a major character in the forthcoming novel The Awakened.

Welcome Wattpadders! This book will be short and to the point. I won’t bore you with mundane grammar rules or the crap you learn in English class, but I will offer simple suggestions on how to improve your writing. These are tips that I use every day when I sit down to write. Nothing fancy, just the basics. I can’t promise that your “hotness” will go up, but I can guarantee that you’ll be a step above the people who don’t implement these techniques. Also, I encourage you to link to this book when commenting on other’s work. Sometimes it can be draining typing out the same suggestions over and over. I’m not trying to gain votes or comments with this book, I’m just here to provide budding writers with simple methods to hone their skills. So, with that brief introduction out of the way, let’s figure out how to improve your stories on Wattpad!

A murder mystery set in a school for wizards. When apprentice wizard Adramal moves to a new school to complete her training, she discovers that several ritual murders have been committed by magic, threatening the fabric of the world. The evidence points to the killer being one of Adramal's teachers, and the City Watch recruit her to go undercover to unmask the murderer. Can she find what she needs before the killer strikes again or - worse - without blowing her cover and putting her own life in danger? This book was one of four finalists in the May 2015 #Wattpad4 contest. The judges said, "I was pulled into the story from the start. It delivers what it says with a strong premise and threat-filled plot." Three further books in the series, Plague & Poison, Dust & Water, and Stone & Silence, are on sale. The whole series is available in ebook, paperback and audiobook, read by the author. Search for "Steven J Pemberton" on Amazon, Apple, Audible or Barnes & Noble, or visit http://www.pembers.net/books.html for other retailers. (This book was posted on wattpad.com. If you are reading it on another site, it was probably put there without my permission, by someone who was too stupid to remove this notice. Please go to Wattpad to read the original book.)
