Young rivals Frisk and Chara are about to set off on an amazing adventure- they can choose their first Undermon. Chara chooses the one with the strongest moves and the most HP. Frisk unwillingly chooses an incredibly rare kind of Undermon with little HP but a big heart. Every year five 11 year old children from every village in between Mt. Cortisol and the Coral Ocean are handpicked to go to the Magia Academy for Mages and Wizards and learn a type of magic that was branded on them at birth. In the Gahicko Village, Cotack twins Hilary, an adventurous spirit, and Armen, an ever-worrying worry wort, are chosen by the town Mage to attend the school. While some Mages turn out friends and others are enemies, and Armen worrying to much like usual, Hilary is determined to find her ever eluding magic- even if it means starting a war.
