Vicchan, Yuuri's dog, is put down when Yuuri is a child. After he is put down Yuuri decides he wants to be a veterinarian when he is older. Once he graduates high school he starts veterinary school and becomes the apprentice of the veterinarian Viktor who is quite puppy-like himself.

Viktor left seven years ago, Leaving Yuuri behind with the Grand Prix silver medal and both half's of their matching rings. Yuuri, Completely heart broken, quits skating for good and takes over the family hot springs resort. After his parents pass away and his sister moves out to get married and be with her husband, Yuuri is left alone to take care of the resort along with Makkachin, who Viktor, for some reason, had left behind as well.
