Would you alter your appearance for a better life? In the year 3000, it's possible. Young Alice Ensing impatiently awaits her 18th birthday, the age in which every citizen is encouraged to completely alter their appearance. The State provides certain Alterations, and only the richest and most loyal citizens are allowed to undergo the most radical surgeries. They emerge from the surgery rooms reborn, better than ever before. Alice longs to be admired by her peers as she decides on a newly offered Alteration, and hopes such a surgery will get her to a top spot within the State Party. However, the day before her birthday, a friend kills herself after receiving the surgery. Suspicious, Alice searches for answers as her peers appear to spontaneously forget the incident ever happened. As Alice uncovers the truth behind the Alterations and the State's intentions, she realizes just how far the State will go to keep the people silent.
