[Sequel to Different] Three months ago, a battle that would determine the fate of San Francisco was fought in the streets. Three months ago, the heroes were defeated and forced into hiding. Three months ago, Jack killed Mark. At least, that's what he thought. After fighting the urge to end it all and attempting to grapple with the deaths of some of his closest friends, Jack discovers that the man he thought he lost is alive. For once, he feels like he might get through this awful time. However, not everything is okay. The leader of the N.A.I., simply referred to as "The Boss," is dying. Mark and the rest of the heroes are working diligently to find a way of freeing the city and shutting down the villain's schemes. Jack is caught in the middle.

Dan is different. He's learned to accept that. Well, as best he can anyway, considering he's never really had much of a choice. It's been this way for as long as he can remember, the constant runaround process of trying to feel normal. His life is built around it, trying to trick both himself and everyone he interacts with into seeing him as your average person. The isolation as he desperately tries to keep others from finding out, the bitterness that wells up inside of him each and every time he's reminded that he'll never be like everyone else, the fear that nothing will ever change. He's fated to be this way forever; a misfit from society. Isolation can only go so far though, so when he's struggling to make ends meet and he's faced with the option of looking into a serious job or taking on a roommate, he opts for what seems like the easier option at the time. It doesn't seem so easy ten failed roommates into the process, or when he sits down at a table to meet with prospect number eleven and ends up with a coffee spilled all over his lap. Potential roommate number eleven, Phil, turns out to be an insufferable optimistic ball of sunshine that Dan wants nothing to do with. His options are running out though, as are the savings he's been using to pay his rent, so he finds himself begrudgingly agreeing to let the other man move in. Neither of them have any way of knowing just what they've gotten themselves into as they shake on the matter, but time will tell.

Jack is a freak...he knows this...he has been called it every day of his life. He is reminded every time he looks in the mirror... Jack's eyes are green where the white should be and blue where the black should be. His hair is a bright neon green that can be seen from miles away. His teeth are like fangs, sharp and pointy. His tongue is forked. His veins glow green when he is angry. His nails are long and needle-like. And his skin is pale, like freshly fallen snow. Because of this, he can't go outside, unless he wears sunglasses and has his hood up. Without them, he's pelted with rotten food and horrible slurs wherever he goes. He has no family or friends because of his abnormalities. But he keeps looking for a place where he belongs, where he is welcomed as an equal and where he can live happily. One day, he finds that place. A Freak Show visits his home city. But before Jack can even step out of his house to look, the locals tell the owner about their own freak, who lives in the house upon the hill by himself and rarely comes out. So when he finally does get out of his house and to the show, he's cornered by the owner, a man by the name of Muyskerm, and some of the freaks. They try convincing Jack to join them. But he doesn't need convincing. He eagerly accepts their offer to join their show. Will Jack be able to acclimatise with living with other people after years of living alone? And what happens when man with blue hair walks into the Freak show looking for a job? Will Jack push him away? Or will he finally open up when he finds out the mans secrets?
