Now add a group of crazy mask-wearing, weapon-wielding, maniacs to the ever growing list of reasons why Gemma hated riding the subway. Gemma Conners is your average eighteen year old and for the past two years she's been riding the subway to and from school with no problem. She always expected the same ol' same ol'. Cramped spaces, hard seats, and perverts staring her up and down and "accidentally" bumping into her and blaming it on the train as it jostled people into one another. Never did she expect a group of masked men to rush in and hold everyone onboard hostage, demanding that they all play along with their sick and twisted idea of a "game". It was either that or die. I hear hounds barking in the distance. They better not find where I hide. I am not going back to that retched place. Not ever again. The scars on my back say so. They are getting closer. I either have to run for it or trust that the hounds won't smell me. A twig snaps under a foot about ten yards away. I grab a small rock and throw with all my might to the left of where I hide. There is a light thunk, but it is enough. The dogs ears perk up and start sniffing in the direction of my pebble. I throw another small rock in the same direction. I hit a tree. A squirrel darts down the trunk a through the brush. The dogs take on the chase. The dogs owners, which call themselves bounty hunters, chase after the dogs. I make a run for it. I feel a hand grip my wrist and another hand stifle my scream.

In the near future, VR has escalated to a technology that nearly everyone has. With VR technology in so many places, many games have sprung up, eager to use this increasingly popular platform to make a profit or just allow users to experience the impossible. One game, Perpetuous, is an MMO Sandbox style game, where "the possibilities are as endless as your imagination". One server in this game, Alchioen, is very regulated and becoming popular because of it. The group of moderators, called the Synerga, make sure that the server runs properly. However, when certain players start to lose the ability to discern reality from the game itself, this team of mods set out to figure out what the cause of this "Blurred Reality Syndrome" is.
