Five years after the war, Draco and Hermione meet by chance as she wanders into a French vineyard just hoping to re-live a trip she took there with her parents during her school years. Instead, she finds a shirtless, barefoot Draco Malfoy hiding out unbeknownst to the wider wizarding world. He's ashamed of his past misdeeds, and she's been recently humiliated by her soon to be ex-husband. Neither are aware that their lives are about to be inexorably linked, forever.

Draco Malfoy has been sentenced to spend an entire year in the muggle world, without his magic. He will be taught how to live like the muggles do by the one person he hates more than any other, Hermione Granger. But times have changed and no one is the same after the war.

Post Battle of Hogwarts. Voldemort won and Harry Potter is dead. Hermione and Draco find themselves in Azkaban together able to talk through a vent in the wall. In order to survive they must be able to work together.

Now he has to contend with the hate he helped breed, and make it to the end of his exams before he can escape it. But all he did has taken it's toll, and he's not the only one dealing with the awful memories. They say misery loves company, but maybe broken people can learn to fix each other... All Hermione wanted to do was to return to Hogwarts and finish her education with a bang as Head Girl. After that, she had her whole life sorted out. She would work things out with Ron, work at the ministry, and become Minister for Magic one day. The universe, as usual, had other plans. Draco certainly wasn't expecting McGonagall to pick him as Head Boy but Harry Potter declined and as per usual, he was the second choice. Unsure what the people back in school had in store for then after all the Death Eater business they were involved in, he returns to Hogwarts with his friends to finish their education anyway. Neither one saw the partnership coming, nor the friendship forged between their two sides.
