The light is too bright: too many people watching, I hear my heartbeat thumping away within my ears; I'm suffocating and no one knows it.
It's broken in half.
The very last thing my mother had ever given me, and it's no more. Just a pile of wood and strings now on the floor, where I had no choice but to leave it as I'm ushered off here onto the stage.
They're all watching, staring. I have nothing to distract me from their judging eyes. I can't breath. My hands are sweating; clutching onto the microphone. I bring it forwards, my lips part and nothing comes out. I'm suffocating. Their watching, judging.
I close my eyes, and flashes of memories come forth like a slide show. It hurts. The memories.
I'm suffocating...and then I feel hands. One taking hold of the wrist connected to the hand which held the microphone, and the other, at the small of my back. They begin to whisper in my ear. I can't hear.
I'm suffocating...hands, fingers rub at my wrist and back. Words penetrate.
"Breathe, we here." I want to correct them, tell them that their English is broken. But I'm sure they know that already.
I try, I obey as I listening to them telling me to take deep breaths...
Then you must add this book to find out what happens next won't you?
