Legolas is a child of the deep, arcane forest. With the face of a Sinda and the heart of a Silvan, he struggles with the mysteries of his illegitimate past as he strives to fulfil his dream; to become a captain in the king's militia. Son of a Silvan mother he never knew, and an unknown Sindarin father, he finds the family he never had in his childhood friends and fellow warriors. But everything will change one fateful day, when a lieutenant will come to realise who The Silvan really is, a discovery that will lead to the unravelling of the mystery of his own past, one that will forever change the course of history. One decision made differently - as the Three Hunters chase after the orcs who have captured Merry and Pippin, they run through that second night rather than rest -- and everything changes. Well, not everything. They're merely captured by the orcs like Merry and Pippin. Not in the plan. One decision changed doesn't change one's destiny, however. How each of them is to reach the fate destiny has in store for them is a bit peskier, though... In this AU story, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli are captured by the orcs trekking across Rohan and struggle to return to their task. Roper is a Dúnedan - a Ranger. As a child he was brought up in the Bree-Land, but after the kidnapping of his brother, Gandalf took him away to join his kin in the protection of West: a solemn calling laid upon the descendants of Isildur. From the troubled boarders of the Shire to the growing darkness of Mirkwood, He must learn what it means to be a Ranger - to face hardship and toil and love for the protection of Middle Earth. While there are well-known characters including Gandalf, Legolas, Tom Bombadil and Golberry, and Elladan and Elrohir, Roper is a completely original character as is Lorellin - a daughter of the Dúnedain whom he works beside - and I am not following any part of LotR or The Hobbit, as this story takes place years before. Why was everything that I loved taken away from me? Why was I stripped of my light? Why do bad things happen to good people? I have no answers, and I doubt that anyone does. My story is one of loss, betrayal, and pain. My story does not have a happy ending, and after everything I have done, I do not deserve one.

When the queen of Mirkwood unexpectedly dies Thanduil is left without a wife, but more importantly his son is left without a mother. The king knows he cannot fill the ruins left by a dead mother so he appoints another woman to take her place, to look after his son when he cannot, and to give him the warmth he no longer feels himself. Inladris is a highborn elf who did not expect this responsibility to be thrust upon her, but she accepts it with aplomb and does her best to not only raise a prince but to give the king a friend she suspects he doesn't realize he needs. This is the story of their peculiar friendship through grief, and how two opposites may or may not successfully raise a child. *This is not a romance.

They are Silvan and they are dangerous. Travelling to Imladris on a mission for Thranduil, Legolas, or Taú, leads his group under the guise of a simple captain. Cultural differences and age-old prejudice will arise, and the Noldor's perception of the Silvan people will drastically change - but will it be for good or bad? Imladris prepares for uncouth wood-elves...

Gimli shows Legolas the Glittering Caves and learns a lesson on beauty and friendship.
