It is an (obviously) unspoken rule of dogs that purebreds are lucky. They are more likely to be adopted and have happy lives. But nothing about Chocolate's life is happy. Will that change? After losing her mother in a traumatic car accident, Avery begins to feel as if she only has herself left in the world. Her relationship with her father has completely changed after losing her mother, and so has her way of living. This all changes when Avery runs into a stray dog in the woods and feels the need to help him. However, she can't do much seeing as her father has grown to absolutely hate dogs because of the way her mother died.
