The first thing that popped into my head when I heard the topic was on control was quarantine and with quarantine, an apocalyptic story. I have been playing this apocalyptic video game where a society was disastrously changed when an infection broke out and how the government and the military handled the situation. They built quarantine zones in the major cities to stop this outbreak. Though this outbreak turned people into deadly fungal killing machines, mine killed off people like a wildfire. The control aspect of my story comes from the quarantine zones - which are protected areas to stop infection from spreading, controlled by the government and the military. The rations of food and other general commodities - clothing, gasoline, electricity, water, etc. At the end of my story you learn that the disease itself is control, also known as population control. Starting from the CDC in Atlanta and moving outward, killing off the people in the cities and then gathering more people to infect and kill off, leaving children for new generation. The devices used by the Beetles is how the government controls the disease to prevent it from becoming uncontrollable. But we all know that never happens!

I was abducted, stolen away and brought to this place, there are no windows. Each room made of white stone, everyday I hear the others scream. Everyday they come to visit us, injecting mysterious serums into our bodies. The Quarantine ward; I've seen it on signs passing through the halls towards laboratories. Towards more testing, the men who work here wear suits of pure white, they conceal their faces their entire bodies. What they inflict us with is dangerous, we are simply a lab experiment to them. For those of us on the ward, we know death is inevitable and escape is nearly impossible.

Whoever said life was easy is an idiot. Life is most definitely NOT easy, no matter what. Even if everything seems perfect, it's only a matter of time before things come crashing down. Of course, I learned that the hard way. I mean, it's not enough to have a disease that can end the world around right? Of course I need to have someone I love get it too. And I forgot, the fact that if I don't find the cure in four weeks my best friends as good as dead, not to mention the human race might be extinct. Did I mention that I have to rescue my friend from a quarantine zone before someone bombs it? No? Well there's that too. If I don't find the cure to this thing soon, my life is as good as over.

The morning of May 10, 2016, at around 7:34 a.m. a large epidemic took place. The ending of World War 3 came with devastating consequences. With half the world destroyed by Nuclear weapons, radiation threatened the remaining countries. Suicide rates rose dramatically as fear contaminated the human race. But to the U.S. government's surprise, the radiation weakened over it's travel across the vast oceans, turning into little more than a mutant threat. Which is exactly what the problem was. Taxoplosmosis, a mutation in a generally common virus, or in this case rabies, changes it into Plague-like virus transmitted through bodily fluids. It began with one bite from a wild animal, and the virus began spreading like wildfire, infecting Hopsitals, Stores, and Homes. Raging fevers, lacerations, bite wounds. Hospitals filled up with people reporting the same symptoms all over the U.S. By 6:00 p.m., more than half the U.S. population had been wiped off. By 9 that night, less than a quarter remained. One of the current survivers, was a girl by the name of Arabella Clayford. With the U.S. nothing more than a danger in itself, Arabella must fight to keep her family, herself, and an odd group of survivors alive against the odds. Will Arabella be able to survive the apocalypse as we know it? Will she keep her family safe and will this group of survivers turn out to be enemies, or will they become the closest thing she's ever had to a family?
