Sarah lives among a Chipped society. From the age of 12 onward, everyone's thoughts are monitored by the government via implanted microchip. Thoughts are recorded until a person turns 18 when they are then to become Paired with their intended life partner by the government. Each individual is given access to the WKI (World Knowledge Index) where they can view their partner's memories during a 30 day isolation period before completing the marriage ceremony.
