"The things we love destroy us every time, lad. Remember that." Fairies are one of the oldest race of beings in Arda -once they called Numenór home- but Arethusa watched as the sea claimed the island from the helm of a ship as the survivors fled to Middle Earth. She has wandered for several lifetimes and has seen nearly all there is. Long had she set aside her bow and sward for, in truth, a healer's hands see more blood than a warrior's. Over the years, she had grown to love the ways of hobbits and there is no hobbit she adores more than Bilbo Baggins. When her visit is interrupted by a band of uncouth dwarves and her dear friend goes running out his door on an adventure what can she do but follow? The days spent within the confines of a cage were perhaps some of the worst days that Beorn had ever known. Through a chance encounter of a fellow escaped prisoner, he has to slowly come to terms with perhaps not being the only skin-changer left. Though this has left him with many questions, he doesn't seem wholly able to voice them without Azog's cruel intrusions. When both skin-changers cross paths again, a plan to escape and a chance of freedom starts to stir and linger.

*Complete* A Lord of the Rings FanFiction A Daughters of Middle Earth Story Formerly Titled "Some Things are Meant to Endure" The only daughter of a King who had lost his Queen and the beloved younger sister of a Prince, Aeslin had grown up in the heart of the Woodland Realm. But given her mother's death in battle when she was but a young elfling, very little was more important to King Thranduil and his son Legolas than her safety. Not only had she never set foot beyond the borders of the Greenwood, she'd rarely left the confines of her Father's Court. For all that she was the most precious thing in the lives of her only family, Aeslin grew up the sad child of a dark forest. But with the Greenwood growing ever darker, Thranduil found himself with a hard choice before him. Fearing for the safety of his youngest child should she stay within the borders of a Kingdom coming to be known as 'Mirkwood', the Elven King made a decision that would change his daughter's life forever. Aeslin had always had a talent for healing, so he decided to send her to Rivendell to learn from Elrond as every great elven healer had done for centuries. There she learns not only the arts of healing, but finds another family, and indeed, eventually finds love. Follows Aeslin from before LotR through to the end of the films.
