Joey and June have been together for two years, but their bliss together is suddenly stolen from them when June is diagnosed with cancer. Joey can't help but worry and feel worthless to June in this condition. June can't help but feel like a burden and too much trouble to not just Joey, but to everyone around her. Time they should be spending together in what could very well be June's last moments are spent in hospitals and long night's sleeps. If the sudden emptiness isn't enough to drive them apart, then June's percentage of living certainly is.
