Rebecca had been best friends with Sam Golbach for as long as she could remember. He was like a brother to her. She had a hard life growing up; her abusive, alcoholic father was hardly ever around, leaving her and her mother who was slowly getting more sick to support themselves. With all of the money they had saved up together over the past few years, they moved from Kansas to Pittsburgh so her mother could be treated at the cancer treatment center there.
