Both were half tarkatan and were considered deadly and dangerous. After hearing the death of jade, Nightmare's anger grew into hatred for Kitana. He blamed her for jade's death and vowed to kill kitana and avenge jade. Years later after Mileena became empress of outworld, Nightmare was Mileena's second-in-command and general of her army. But Nightmare started to grow feelings for Mileena as Mileena started to grow feelings for her general. 2 years later Nightmare and mileena married and Nightmare was now Mileena's emperor. The 2 hold strong love for each other. Mileena vowed to help her husband track down Kitana and kill her. 3 years later Nightmare and Kitana fought in the arena under Mileena's supervision. Nightmare killed Kitana and avenged his sister's death.
