Also, Alyss is not dead here and Halt did not retire, Crowley didn't die or start the Special Task Group so Halt is still the Redmont Ranger, Crowley is still the Commandant and Will is still at Seacliff. Vier geheimzinnige mannen te paard proberen Philip en Alene, de tweelingkinderen van baron Arald, te ontvoeren. Alene wordt meegenomen, maar Philip weet door puur geluk te ontsnappen. Hij voelt zich schuldig over wat er met zijn zus is gebeurd en wil haar helpen, maar er is niet veel wat hij kan doen als Will, de Grijze Jager van Redmont, haar al probeert op te sporen. Maar misschien is Philip uiteindelijk harder nodig dan iedereen had gedacht. Alleen moet hij daarvoor wel een oude angst overwinnen. Het grootste deel van de karakters is niet van mij, maar van John Flanagan, die de Grijze Jager-serie heeft geschreven. Ook de gebeurtenissen waarnaar gerefereerd wordt is merendeels niet van mij, maar daarom is het ook een fanfictie.

The Ranger Corps, a highly well known archery/boot camp had been set up by hardcore fans of the Rangers Apprentice series in real life. But you need more than the love of the Rangers Apprentice series to get in. This organisation is also a group of detectives, or in other words a special force that helps to investigate mysteries and cases with the police. But not even the ordinary police officers know their identity, for only the highest level of authority can call on them. So to disguise their real reason as the Ranger Corps, the Corps hold several archery camps each year. During these archery camps, the people who've come are secretly assessed and tested to see if they can qualify for been a Ranger, if they are willing to do so.
