The packed lunches stopped coming when he turned ten. Eleven, the birthday parties ceased. At fourteen, his younger brother was 'too old' to have to share his room, so A.J. was moved to the small laundry room. At sixteen, there were no more 'I love you' or 'have a good day'. At seventeen, the lunch money stopped and the hateful glares started. Then the angry words. Everything he did was wrong. The dishes weren't clean. The laundry wasn't folded right. By the time he finally graduated, a few days after his nineteenth birthday, there was no more attention of any sort. They ignored him, except to tell him that his chores weren't done well enough and that he didn't deserve to eat until they were. A.J., desperate for some sort of attention, and honestly starving, tried one last thing to get them to at least show so semblance of caring, even if it was negative. He told them that he was gay. At nineteen, only a few days after his graduation, A.J. was kicked out of his home with an empty stomach, and an empty heart.

His father had used him as a scapegoat and won his mother over, thinking that her husband was telling the truth about his cheating and that Zachary was the one who was bringing women over, trying to ruin their marriage. He'd argued his side, but once his mother decided on something, her mind would not be changed. That's how he came to live in the alley near the end of 73rd street between the old bakery and a laundromat. It wasn't anything special, but after three years he'd managed to spruce up the place and make it almost-bearable to live in. Over the years he'd made friends with random people he often passed on the streets and did manage to hold down a few random jobs, but like everything else, they came, then went. Now he was left with fifteen dollars and twenty-two cents, a torn blanket, one outfit, and a dream for a better life. He just didn't know that he'd find it somewhere he'd never thought to look... or with someone he never knew he'd want.

After months of an unhappy on-off relationship, Lynn finally decides to break it up for good with her boyfriend. To start anew she decides to move out of town and gets a job at a music store to pay for her rent. When she meets a wonderful girl from town she realizes things about herself that she never considered possible. One of them being that she's hella gay. Author's note: This story at its conception was mostly a project for myself to see if I could write something and get feedback and since i was heavily into PVRIS at the time I wrote it as Lynn Gunn fanficion. I finished writing this story years ago and since then I've not felt exactly comfortable with writing fanfiction about real people because of my own reasons. I pondered on deleting it, but I grew too fond of the response this story got, despite not liking it myself, so I decided on keeping it, just tweaking it a bit so the main character is not a fictionalized version of Lynn Gunn, just with her as a face claim. After deceiving his clingy friends he snuck away on the school trip, hoping he could finally get some peace and quiet. This trip would hold some surprises for him, and maybe even change his life. What future will await these two? Are they destined for greatness, or despair?

She lived with her mom and brother on the second floor of a duplex on 18th street. Her bestie soul mate, which is what they called each other is Damien. Damien and Stevie are basically twins glued at the hip. Stevie hasn't really come out of the closet yet to anyone except Damien. Little did she know on her first day of school, she would meet the girl of her dreams that she almost, or maybe even does lose.
