When twenty-six-year-old literature student Frank Iero inherits a crumbling Italian estate from a long-forgotten relative, he expects solitude - maybe even inspiration for his thesis. What he doesn't expect is the house to be watching him back.
The estate is inhabited by something ancient and restless: a presence bound to the house by blood and ritual, left behind centuries ago and slowly unraveling. Bitter, lonely, and determined to drive Frank away, the entity finds itself thrown off balance by Frank's sharp tongue, irreverent humor, and refusal to be afraid. Against all reason, an uneasy connection begins to form, one that blurs the line between haunting and intimacy.
The Unquiet is a gothic queer romance about possession and protection, belief and blasphemy, and the thin boundary between love and damnation. It asks what it means to be bound, to a house, to faith, to another soul, and whether some ghosts are worth refusing to leave behind.
