Hayley has always been fascinated with words. She's loved to talk and write since she was a little girl. The only problem was that no one could understand her. When she does speak, it's only sounds- noises and grunts. When she writes, only squiggles lay on white pieces of paper. She knows she can write so much more than that. That she can say so much more than that.

Mitch hated school. He hated the kids who didn't understand what being mute is, he hated the arrogant teachers who didn't care about him, and most of all, he hated the new kids. They were quick to judge and make fun of him. School was nothing more than a place of pain and suffering. Until he met Scott.
