Dan Howell is a timid boy, who always does as he is told. He was once friends with Phil Lester, the 'bad influence' who soon ditches Dan for the popular group in Year 7. After five years of not talking to each other, they're partnered in a project and Phil's wants to win Dan over just like he has with most of their year. But yet, Dan is determined to find out what Phil is hiding behind his arrogant mask.

Dan is that kid. The popular boy that every girl swoons over, that everyone wants to be friends with, the boy that's a complete jerk to anyone lower on the totem pole. But deep down, he's just trying to hide and ignore his own secret- that he's gay. Phil is Dan's usual target. Openly gay, awkward, and nerdy, he seems to be easily bullied. He's always too afraid to say anything and would rather stay in the background and get through high school and go to university. When Dan's grades slip 🔚 he needs to bring them up or else repeat his senior year, Phil is assigned to tutor Dan. It seems to be a terrible coincidence that the two are brought together, but it's so much more. Dan Howell was the typical spoiled, rich boy with butlers driving him to operas and maids making him nachos for breakfast. Phil Lester, however, was the opposite. Barely any money and deadbeat parents, he lives in a bad neighborhood in a gross apartment with cat hair covering the carpet and an odd roommate. And then Dan's parents decide he needs to love someone rather than himself, and when Phil shows up at his mansion steps, Dan's parents grow fond of him- so much that the two are exchanging rings and Phil is moving in with his new spouse. They tell Dan he should give it a few months, to be patient, and if he still doesn't like him then they'll sign the divorce papers and call it quits. Marriage isn't perfect, right? Well this one is the exact example. But they could always pretend.

AU: Everyone is born seeing black and white. You start to see colors when you first kiss your soulmate. Dan and Phil get completely wasted at a club and wake up seeing colors. Phan AU: Mutant, and proud. Concept based X-Men but not really a crossover + no characters from X-men included. You can absolutely read this with no prior knowledge of the movies/comics. Sci-fi, powers, adventure and a healthy dose of drama. Random genetic mutations occur, some unnoticeable and others catastrophic. If a mutation proves to be advantageous, then the organism is more likely to survive so the mutation will be passed on. The study of these mutations has been one of the main focal points of medical scientists for years; mostly, or so the public believe, in an attempt to cure or prevent the threats to life caused by these mutations. Genetic diseases, deformity, small sections of coding that increase the risk of some ailment or other or perhaps just undesirable traits. Our grasp of genetics is improving exponentially, and it poses the question: if you could rewrite your DNA sequence from scratch, why settle for blonde hair and blue eyes when you can give yourself wings. Not all mutations are accidental.
