[ COMPLETED AND ON THE WATTYS 2017 SHORTLIST - Excerpt Only] In an era where the drums of war echo over the Northern plains, when the arrival of the next Copper Moon brings about whispers of a shadowy threat, Nell Yngram is only concerned with struggling to make ends meet. Earning a living as a Lampgirl, and having serviced the Moreighs for the last couple of years, she yet dreams of being assigned to the family's ancestral home at Ashenlight. Despite talk of dark secrets plaguing the Samarna Palace, Nell only seeks to earn a good enough sum with which to send back to her family and allow her to return to them. At present, however, such a wish seems impossible. Yet when the former Baron passes away under unforseen circumstances, and his exiled son returns with a foreign bride-to-be, it seems that things certainly are about to change... A story about intertwining lives and internal struggles, dark magic in a rapidly-changing society, and the acceptance of Fate. Cover by: @elphadora

Kayden Lee is a girl from New Jersey with newly divorced parents and an annoyingly perfect cousin staying with her for an entire summer. Blaze Merg is a wizard... but not a particularly good one. He's still surprised that he managed to graduate, and finding a job has proved to be a lot more difficult than expected. Their lives become intertwined just as the magical world erupts into chaos. Spells begin failing, people start dying, and the two are magically bound together against their will. As the magical community struggles to survive without magic, Blaze and Kayden try to find a way to break the spell that has physically bound them together. But as they navigate through magical politics, they must also control their growing attraction to one another, which may just be another unfortunate side effect of their spell gone wrong. * * * Awards and Featuring: Ranked #13 in Fantasy (Dec 2016) Wattpad Featured (Dec 2016) Editor's Choice (May 2020) Featured on @ContemporaryLit (Jan 2020) Featured on @Fantasy (Feb 2021) Featured on @WattpadUrbanFantasy (May 2021) Cover image by @TheRainbowPig

Although the lands of Aeros were torn apart over a hundred years ago, a great scar still divides the people where the kingdoms were sewn back together. Unlike the Elves to the north, the great Human race did not react well to their populous developing fantastical abilities. Quickly, the kingdoms were torn asunder and even the King and his spirit warriors were not able to keep the foundations of his kingdom from cracking. The Kingdom of Orlanio was the first to take up sword to the cause of restricting Mage freedom, decreeing that Mages were too dangerous and should not be granted the same freedoms as others. Even though she's the Grad Duke of Orlanio's niece, Allaria cares little for the politics outside Orlanio's walls. She is much more concerned with pushing back her Uncle's timeline for shipping her off to court. Seeing as she is nineteen years of age she had been doing quite well until one night ruined it all and sent her life down a path she never saw coming. Times in Aeros are becoming more and more dangerous as a new power is growing and Allaria will soon find she has an important role to play as the wars brew and the Phoenix rises.
