The United States has fallen and become separated into just five different sectors: Northern States, Southern States, Western States, Eastern States, and the Central State. The Central State is the Capitol and they are recruiting young gifted children to test things on them. From each of the four surrounding sectors come six volunteers. They will each be given an elemental power. Through a series of tests, the scientists of the Central State will determine the effectiveness of this power. But beware those who volunteer for this. Only one will come out of this alive. The rest will die during testing. Will you be a strong enough volunteer to make it through this? (Great for fans of Nickelodeon's Avatar! The land of Castre has been ravaged by destruction and war. Vaxon has taken over the kingdom and rules the land with cruelty and brutality. The only ones who can defeat him are the Magi: the last magic-users left alive. Thirty-two of them are left, and now he has finally found them and captured them. Eriswen is a powerful Shield Wizard, taken in and trained personally by Mathas. She's spent her life mostly alone, all of her friends killed by the great massacre of Magi ten years ago. Guilt dogs her footsteps from knowing that she saved the life of the man who caused that massacre: Vaxon. Now, she has been kidnapped by Vaxon and thrown into an arena with the last thirty-four Magi as some sort of twisted form of amusement for the royal family and everyone else in Castre. Only one Magi will be able to come out of this arena alive. Friendships, love and humanity will be sacrificed in this fight to live. Can Eris make it out alive?

Naoki hates his clan. His leader killed his parents and stole him from home to because a Samurai at a young age, but he remembered it all and when his chance came, he ran away from home and hid with the ninjas, training with them and living as a Ronin, or wandering Samurai. But war has come to the clans and Naoki knows he can't just sit out this time. Nobunaga Oda is fighting to take over all of Japan and Naoki doesn't want to let that happen. Oda is too cruel and doesn't have any regard for human life. If he were to take over and win, Japan would be ruled by a tyrant. Naoki's fix for this was to take over his clan and use it to fight against Oda, but when Oda attacks his clan and kills his people without mercy, Naoki has had enough. To protect his people, he will fight to help another clan take over Japan. His ultimate goal, however, is to end the war as soon as possible so he can go back to the ninjas and live his life in peace. *Warning: Some scenes in this book get graphic about describing death. If you dislike or won't read that kind of thing, this book might not be for you.
