[CF3] In this first installment of a two-parter, Max and the Flock mistakenly turn their lives upside down upon arriving at a strange island, which just happens to be the home of roughly one hundred bionic kids who are all pioneered by trained leaders: Adam, Bree, and Chase. Rather than leaving, they decide to stay, introducing themselves to not only a new world of alliances but also enemies. What could possibly come from a situation like this? (Disclaimer: This story was written when I was but a little thirteen-year-old and has since been completed. I, Benni, have chosen not to go through and edit it for the fact that I am extremely lazy, and I also like to look back on how far my writing has come. With Nino wanting Max to join him, Erasers on their tail and the increasing want to stop and make a home out something, how can they survive? That's what the news report said regarding the fire at a medical research facility in northern Washington, except witnesses that escaped the premises won't say a word and the bodies they announced were never recovered. But when a SHIELD surveillance team is visited the same day of the fire by what they can only describe as a girl with wings, the mystery begins to get deeper. Maximum Ride lost her entire family in that fire, a detail she conveniently forgets to add when agent after agent lobs questions at her from a hospital room. She won't speak to a soul, not for anything in the world, and pushes away food like poison. Why shouldn't she? It's an out of the frying pan, into the fire situation to Max and SHIELD is the place that's going to make her burn. But as Max recuperates and finds as stable a home she can get, dark secrets from her past begin to resurface, causing everyone around her to beg the question... who is Maximum Ride?
