""You got funny ideas about first dates." Cas froze, feeling his face get a little warm at the mention of "first dates." "Um. Excuse me?" The corners of Dean's lips pulled into a smug grin as he finished his cigarette and flicked it over the porch railing, leaning his back against the wall. "You heard me." "Yeah, I did, but- "Listen." Dean got close. Really close. His lips were soft as they brushed against Castiel's, being pressed delicately. He could feel the light stubble on Dean's jaw against his cheek and his breath on his ear as he pulled away and moved over to the side of his head, fingers slipping in side his jean's pocket as he said in a soft tone, "Call me sometime."" Castiel has been dreaming a lot lately. Dreaming about Dean Winchester. A man he doesn't really know and one he's eager to be close to. SUPERNATURAL FAN FICTION! I do not own any of these characters, just the story :P

It's 1995, and Castiel's high school years are destined to be difficult: home-schooled until eighth grade, he is awkward, shy, and socially inept. The weird kid with the funny name would rather isolate himself and draw in his sketchbook than deal with the constant bullying he faces every day. Things only get worse in his junior year when he excels in home economics class, leading the captain of the baseball team, Alastair, to start taunting him for being gay. Then new student Dean Winchester arrives at Flour Bluff High School, sharing many of Castiel's classes. Castiel has seen his type before -- handsome, athletic, arrogant, and sure to be the most popular kid in school. But Castiel eventually learns that he and Dean have more in common than he thought, and they form an unlikely friendship. This story was originally published October 20, 2010 as part of the Dean/Cas Big Bang Challenge. Warnings: Bullying, homophobic language, some violence related to bullying.
