Sam manages to sneak into Dauntless without meaning to. She joins a party, drinks a little too much and spends the night with the one and only Eric. Sam leaves him wanting more during training, but will Eric still feel the same when Sam's secrets are found out? Her one night stand turns sour when Eric picks on her more during training. During the second stage of training, Sam begins to find out what she is there for. Memories and orders come flying back to her due to the serum playing with her mind. She just cannot keep her secrets secret for long. Will Eric get off his high horse and swallow his pride? Or are Sam's secrets way worse than he expected? "Why don't you let people see the good in you?" "Because when people see good, they expect good. And I don't want to have to live up to anyone's expectations."

This is basically fifty shades mixed with ultraviolence ---------------------------------------------- I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness. Starving, hysterical, naked. Dragging themselves through the meager streets at dawn. Looking for an angry fix. Who ate fire in paint hotels drinking turpentine in paradise alley. Death or purgatory their torsos night after night, with dreams, with drugs. With waking nightmares. And so, in being created in his likeness, being vanished for wanting to be too much like him, we were cast out. And the Garden of Eden transformed into the Garden of Evil. Los Angeles, the city of angels, the land of gods and monsters. The in between realm, where only the choices made from your free will, will decide your souls final fate. Some poets called it the entrance to the underworld, but on some summer nights, it could feel like paradise. Paradise lost.

The next Choosing Ceremony is rapidly approaching, and the entirety of Chicago are preparing for the upcoming event. For the existing members of Dauntless, things are already changing daily and Jac finds herself in the middle of some big changes. She has to sacrifice the things that she already knows and does for the sake of the people she loves, as well as stumbling upon the biggest dilemma she's had to face yet. Torn between what she knows is right, the people that want her to do wrong, the people she loves and the people that she wants to save, Jac has to make the biggest decision of her life, even if it causes more pain.

Choosing day was supposed to be simple for her. Her parents had done their best to convince her that a quiet life in Amity would be perfect for her, however she has much bigger plans. She felt that she was destined for Dauntless. She'd spent the past two years secretly training herself, ready to jump in at the deep end, but would it really be that easy? Join Jac on her journey into the unknown, mysterious ways of Dauntless, and the varying feelings she finds for the people around her, including her enigmatic instructor, who constantly has her on her toes.
