"I'm glad." She said finally. I couldn't hold it back any longer. I took a step closer to her, and I could see her tense out of the corner of my eye. "I just wanted to apologize." I was glad when my voice was steady when I spoke, funny since I'd been a stumbling fool earlier. Miss Conner just watched me. I fought the urge to reach over and shake her. That impenetrable mask that she always wore was driving me crazy! "For what?" My brows furrowed and I stared at my English teacher in confusion. Tragedies change people. That being said, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the accident changed Gemma. She was different. She didn’t fit in with the rest of us with her pale white skin that made her appearance more pronounce and eerily beautiful or those strange mismatched eyes of hers that seemed as if it seen too much. Riley's past isn't something most kids go through. Bad things happened, but when she got older, her dad decided it was best to move, and get away from something that seemed to haunt Riley. They moved from Arizona to California. About 1/4 into her junior year, Riley had to go to a new school, and make new friends. She didn't really care about having friends though, as long as she was able to play soccer, she would be okay. Soccer had always been there for her, when her mom died, when she didn't have anyone else, when she was in a bad mood. It was always there for her to play. She didn't need anyone else. That changed when she met Brooke Eckmann. Brooke is also a junior in high school, and is the varsity teams goalie. When they first meet on the field, it was something different. She couldn't stop thinking about her. It was something both of them had never felt before. The smell of alcohol and cigarettes swirling around me as I gazed into those violet eyes that make my knees go weak. I swallowed the lump in my throat and held up my head higher and faced this hardcore punk as if I was like her: Rebellious and reckless. "What I want is you. Everything else could go fuck themselves," I told her, seeing the way those violet eyes widened in shock in a quick second before they smiled, a grin spreading on her rosy pink lips. My heart fluttered as her face grew closer, tingles spread through my body just by her touches as she moved to my ear, biting my earlobe gently as she whispered, "I want you too."
