A rather cold trip to Jupiter's moon, Europa, has the Doctor longing for some warmth. And what better place than the scenic French Riviera in the summer? ...Of 1927. What starts as a nice, calm trip quickly turns into an adventure once the guests start disappearing one by one. When you're a child prodigy, everyone expects great things from you. But, in Ariana Dockery's case, no one's every really expected anything from her. It was alright, she supposed. At twenty-four and holding two Ph.D.s, Ari was already used to remaining pretty invisible. That is, until a strange man with a bowtie and a big blue box crash into her life. A chance to see all of time and space? It's all too much for an astrophysicist like Ari to pass up. However, something is very, very wrong and it's only a matter of time before Ari and the Doctor can stop running from it.
