The world is a hub of technology. In the years leading up to the third World War convenience and ease are the priorities for every day life. Cars drive themselves, food is prepared by machines, and human interaction is almost nonexistent within a home environment. Artificial intelligences are developed and are beginning to be used. Then war strikes, halting the world's advancements with death and chaos. Fire and blood taint the land, the sky turns grey with smog and smoke. A single year of devastation weaves itself into the tapestry of Earth's history. Then calm occurs, the world's leaders all agreeing to a mutual peace. Half of the world's population has died, either from the combat or the spread of contagion. The very next month, marking the beginning of year 2017, a man astounds the world by coming forth and announcing his discovery- the ability to surpass death.
