In Book I of the trilogy, Tamras, our hero, arrives in Merin’s house to begin her apprenticeship as a warrior, but her small stature causes many, including Tamras herself, to doubt that she will ever become a competent swordswoman. To make matters worse, the Lady Merin assigns her the position of companion, little more than a personal servant, to a woman who came to Merin’s house, seemingly out of nowhere, the previous winter, and this stranger wants nothing to do with Tamras. Tamras’s journey begins with the smallest of steps. She sets aside her disappointment and performs as well as she can the humble tasks given her, and eventually she succeeds in winning the trust and then the friendship of the cantankerous warrior to whom she has been assigned. In the first year of her journey, Tamras will make a series of choices that often seem insignificant, but they will flow from her character and from her good intentions, and they will determine her destiny.

The People Choice Awards 2019 Winner for Best Diverse Books Never had Autumn thought that she would break up with her boyfriend, Tyler, until the day she met Frazier Ronan, the one person who turned her life upside down, created chaos, and made her defy all her principles. ***** For someone rude and cunning, it surprised me how he could be soft when it came to kissing. He placed soft kisses at the corners of my lips and held my face in his warm hands as his fingers tangled in the hair above my ears, tugging my ponytail and messing with my hair. His brown eyes filled my vision, hard and intense, a direct contradiction to his hot, sensual mouth. The tip of his tongue touched the seam of my lips, and my breath caught in my throat. I could feel a jolt clear in the soles of my feet, a warm tingling that curled my toes and settled in the pit of my stomach. The kiss was tender, almost sweet, and I fought to keep my eyes open and pressed my lips tight. I fought to remind myself that the lips brushing mine, as if he were my lover, belonged to an egomaniac asshole who told lies and swore to make my life miserable. When your bully becomes your knight in shining armor, what would you do?

Best rank: #1 in Action! Included in Action's Featured List! Amelia Reyes has been raised within an orphanage her entire life, but she just recently broke free of their grasp. The men who raised her taught her the skills of a street fighter. They taught her to take pain. They taught her how to survive. They taught her to give no mercy. They showed her pain. They gave her the 564 that is engraved on her wrist. But that 564 is a reminder. A reminder of love, of mercy, of hope. They took her innocence and her freedom, but they did not take the fire in her heart. ______________________________________________________________________ Thanks to @captainmarvel165 for designing this beautiful cover, and thanks to @LeagueofGraphics who featured it in their book and for everything they helped with for this wonderful piece of art! © 2015-2016 Katherine Hinchley (Wattpad user -MidnightStories-) All Right Reserved. "You know, it won't physically hurt you to be nice for once." I crossed my arms in front of my chest and groaned. "I don't want to take a chance." the corner of his lips lifted a little as he finished his sentence. "Well, you don't hear me complaining. The view of a someone so desperately working out is not a delight either." I retorted in a weary voice. "I bet it isn't." he narrowed his eyes at me and commented. Ugh.. Why is he so damn annoying? "You know what, just take your arrogant ass out of my room." I scowled at him, pointing towards the door. With small steps, he walked towards me. I took a step backwards when he neared me. He was invading my personal space, making me a bit flustered. The urge to push back his golden-brown hair covering his forehead was increasing with every passing second. "Gladly." he mumbled against my face and then walked past me out of my room. It took me a minute to calm down my racing heartbeat. ... He was a mystery, an enigma I wanted to solve. He was exhausting, he was infuriating, yet staying away from him was not an option. He was making me feel things I haven't felt before. Adam McArdle! Who are you and what are you doing to my poor little heart? ... #1 in GENERAL FICTION (23-05-2019) #1 in CHICKLIT (21-07-2019)

"We'll start the bids at one million!" My heart was racing, please let this be some horrible nightmare. Everything was silent except for some murmurs going on somewhere farther in front of me. "Let us see her eyes!" Someone exclaimed and I heard footsteps approach me. My hair was pulled, causing my head to fall back and slam into what felt like bars. The cloth that blinded me was loosened and fell down. There was a bright light shining on me, I squinted my eyes and looked ahead. There were bars, I was trapped in what looked like a giant bird cage. I was on display on a stage for a crowd of strangers, each one of them wearing a mask like you would in a masquerade. "Two million!" "Five million!" Bids flew around the room, I could feel myself trembling, I had to hold back my tears. "Twenty million!" Someone called out and I couldn't see who did, but it silenced the entire room. "Twenty million going once, twenty million going twice..." No one wanted to make a higher bid. "Sold for twenty million! Take her to the back boys." (Fanfiction : #213)
