PAIGE'S MIRACLE is the short story that my award-winning Heartwarming novel, A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS, is based on. Here is the back cover copy for A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS, which also applies to this short story: There's a stranger at the door on Christmas Day... Single mother Paige Summerville wants to give her seven-year-old son the Christmas of his dreams. Jason needs surgery to beat the illness that's plagued his young life, leaving Paige desperate to make ends meet. So she turns to a charity that grants the wishes of sick children... Then a stranger arrives bearing gifts for Jason-and for her. He's Daniel Kinsley, a lawyer who's grown cynical about family. But his kindness in making Jason's wishes come true offers him more than he ever imagined. Is there room in Paige's heart for a man who could fulfill all their dreams? And not just at Christmas! I hope you enjoy PAIGE'S MIRACLE! Kate

'"Gangsters, Businessmen, Politicians, Princes of various countries. No matter how riteous a man claims to be, he always dabbles in a little of the Devils work." He informed before snorting his addiction and wiping his nose to erase the evidence.' We all know the story of how the girl fell for the gangster and that hadn't ended very well. So, what about the story when she takes him back? What happens when she realises that to get the gangster, she'll have to be the gangster? Not the Damsel now, is she?

Lilah James has never had any troubles with getting into a club, even though she was not 'of age' yet. Still, no bodyguard ever demanded to see her ID. That all seemed to change when a handsome, tall and not to forget tattooed-to-his-neck bodyguard came in the game. Before she knew it, he had denied her entrance to the city's local club. She was beyond embarrassed, but over all angry at him. He was just doing his job, she knew. Yet she couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more behind it. Especially after seeing him let teenagers in. He didn't ask for their ID's, but Lilah could swear they looked like ten! She's never met him before and really wasn't planning on getting to know that handsome, ink covered devil. But after she discovered what he did when he wasn't guarding the club, she knew she would never hear the end of it. Especially because of her brother's interest in fights and his unmistakable admiration for one specific fighter: Prince Charmink. »»» "Jason." I hissed at my brother. "What?" He asked absentmindedly. "That's him." I whispered, eyeing the three men in the cage. Prince Charming stood tall and proud with a knowing smirk on his face. "Yes, I know. He's my favourite too." He informed me and I scoffed. "No, you dumbass. He's the bodyguard I was talking about." I snapped at Jason and his eyes widened. "You mean he was the one who didn't let you in?" He almost stuttered. "Yes." I nodded and looked back at the man who hadn't left my mind in a week. I could feel my anger rising again as I glared at his smug facial expression. As if sensing my eyes on him, his confident look faltered and it got replaced by a surprised one as his eyes settled on me. My eyes widened and I looked away. Jason's breath hitched. "He's glaring at you." He whispered and then he gulped. "Now he's glaring at me."

-COMPLETE original version PLUS first half of new version!- "I don't know what to do," I admitted for the first time to both her and myself. "I don't know how to maintain this without fucking something up. I don't know how to keep spending time with you without setting a bad example or slipping up in front of my Family." Violet sat up and turned to face me. "I can't answer that for you," she said with a sad smile. "But I can go. I can make this easier, stay out of your way for a while." She stood on her knees between my legs, close, but not touching, and watched me with those wide, ocean eyes. I should have told her to go- listened to her suggestion and put some real distance between us. It would have been smarter, safer. But it would feel like cutting off my own hands. "I don't want that," I murmured, and reached for her waist. (excerpt from new version) --- Vengeance. Vendetta. Violence. These three words are all Violet Harcourt knows. For years, her world has been centered around killing Bill Pfeiffer, the hitman who murdered her father and sister. She's learned the criminal underground inside and out while masquerading as a quiet art student, bringing her closer and closer to her target. Now, it's time to blow her cover, and Bill Pfeiffer's brains out. Vitale Fierro lives a carefree life at the top of the Salvaggi Mafia. Business has been good, and Chicago isn't a bad place to call home when you're a professional criminal. But when a girl with purple hair murders the Family's prized hitman, he's given the responsibility of what to do with her. To kill, or not to kill seems to be the ultimate question- one he must answer while managing a promotion, taking down a rival Family, and trying not to fall in love. Book 1 of the Rough Love Novels

"I was so surprised when I saw her red hair that day. I didn't have anybody with red hair in my family. So I figured she got that feature from him. And I found out years later when he needed me to pick up his mother from the airport. Her hair was red like fire, too beautiful to be fake. Just like my little Emma's."
